Veniero's (East Village)

Delicious assortment of Italian Butter Cookies, sold by the pound

Our favorite Italian bakery in Manhattan. Definitely worth a trip if you are in the area or simple must have some great, classic Italian pastries. Their display so enticing you will have a hard time deciding what to get. If you must pick just one item, I strongly suggest the Lobster Tail - perfect outer crust filled with lush, not too sweet, creamy vanilla cream. It is amazing. See below for photos. 

You can also pick up a pound of Italian butter cookies which are delicious. There is something about their chocolate that has me going back for more, sweet yet not too much so. They are wonderful to put out for company, or enjoy yourself. 

For special occasions that call for cake, their Strawberry Shortcake is hard to beat. It is light, full of delicate flavor and always a hit. 

It is also right around the corner from Momofuku Noodle Bar. We like to grab noodles for lunch and then hit the bakery before we head home.
